Does FM Beauty have an website with info on progress?

Ok - I know - long time no hear no see... What can I say - life Sad I'm very sorry that I was not updating you guys for such a long time. Mea Culpa!

To the point! Smile

I can gladly announce that we redesigned some assumptions (by splitting project into standard and pro branches) and we will provide the community with cheap, USB-based FM-Beauty. There will be two versions at the same time:

FM-Beauty N: with YMF297 (OPL3 + OPNA (without ADPCM) inside)
FM-Beauty M: with YM2151

The revised prototype is being draw and will go to soldering very soon.

Holy shit, welcome back Malfunction! Smile

Does this mean that none of them will have PCM? What will be used for controlling it? Tracker? VST? MIDI-sequencer? And after hizmi's recent pleading for the MML because of its power and versatility, how will it compare to what's already availiable (apart from being easier to obtain than a real X68000)?

Looking forward to hearing more about this.

1. Thanks for warm greetings!
2. Thanks for double warm greetings! Wink Wink
3. It will be:
- driver (with documentation) and DLL to be used with DosBox, TFM, Sega MD, AtariST, CPC, ZX, MAME and other emulators
- VSTi (as there will be NO analog routing at all - you will be able to threat it as software VSTi and make anything with that sound - like software filtering inside Renoise etc.)
- as the driver and specification will be available - there shouldn't be a problem for anyone to write MML interpreter. But please - don't ask me for that - programming sounds instead of making module is not WYHIWYG for me Wink
- you will be able to use more than one or two FMBs in your system - as long as you have enough USB ports and processing power for so many digital audio streams

Wow, Malfunction, this is great news (although I'm a bit late on it)

I can't wait to get my hands on an FM-Beauty N.

No analog output Sad

I was thinking it might have been working with Netus-Bee on Atari ST... http://hardware.atari.org/netusbee/netus.htm
Well.. netus-Bee project seems dead anyway... but it would have been cool to have an sound upgrade using FM synth for the Atari Smile
